The Myasthenia Gravis Rare Disease Network (MGNet) has awarded the 2020 MGNet Scholar Award to Amanda Guidon, MD, a neuromuscular neurologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital and an assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Guidon specializes in the care of patients with neuromuscular diseases and in performing electrodiagnostic studies.
Dr. Guidon’s project will aim to evaluate the feasibility and outcomes of virtual video visits as a novel healthcare delivery platform in myasthenia gravis (MG). Now more critical than ever, telemedicine will bring the opportunity to address variable weakness, improve medication education, adherence, and monitoring, reducing burden and costs of care. This project will point to a new model in changing practice patterns for MG care and increase participation in clinical trials.
The MGNet Scholar Program provides mentored research training and is designed to prepare scholars for an independent research career in the field of MG. Dr. Gudion will receive up to $75,000 to support her work.
